The article by Sasha Frere-Jones "1+1+1=1" shows us new media helps fosters creativity. In the music industry there are numerous ways for creative efforts to be executed. One example in particular is the use of digital software when producing music. Here DJ Reset isolated instruments from a song and added his own live instruments to create something new with something old. He adds an acapella vocal to the track from a different song creating a mashup. The vocals he had ripped was from a song with a completely different genre but he found a way to put the two together and make something that in return gave him much success. This is done a lot in the music industry today. Another example is the sampling of older songs and creating what are known as "loops" which producers add into a tracks instrumentation to give it more depth or a refresh.
